The To-Do List

CONFESSION:
Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” - James 1:22.

Lord, you know I hate to exercise.  I put it off and put it off, doing other things that are less unpleasant first.  The treadmill may be calling my name, but instead I am on my hands and knees scrubbing grout with a toothbrush.  I become frustrated and wonder why I can’t get the scale to budge, why I can’t hear You and why a good God wouldn’t answer when I call.

They say that if we are unhappy with something, we need to do something different.  And if we continue doing just what we want to do, we will never get where we want to be.  I come to you over and over hoping the answer to my problem will have another solution, but it doesn’t.  There are times You stop talking, because I still have not done what you asked me to do six months ago.  You won’t give me the next step until I take the last one.

Father, I lift my friend before You.  They need to hear from You.  Sometimes in a season of testing You become quiet, because just like in school, the teacher doesn’t talk or explain things during a test.  Other times You are quiet, because You are waiting for us to do what You have already asked us to do.  Father, if a skipped step of obedience is keeping them stuck, please bring it to their attention.  Give them strength, courage and self control to obey You.  Help them to stop putting it off, and to just do it today.  Lord, this is hard.  They struggle with their flesh.  Spirit of God help them to take the first step.  Then may each step of obedience be fuel for the next.  Bring break through.  May they walk in obedience to all You have commanded them to do, so You might bless them to live and prosper, and You might prolong their days in the land that You will give them. (Deuteronomy 5:33)  And give me strength to get on the treadmill.  In Jesus Name ❤️
