Stop The Insanity!

Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” - 2 Timothy 1:7

Lord, we come before You this morning.  We struggle with self-discipline.  Another translation of this verse replaces the words “self-discipline” with “sound mind.”  Sound mind speaks of a healthy mind or sanity.  There may be certain aspects of our lives that are clearly disciplined, even militaristic in our staunch adherence to a set of rules, but there are others that are in disarray, because we lack self control.  We are not programmed robotically to perfectly perform endless tasks without thought.  You created us as sentient beings with feelings, endowed with the gift of choice.  While You have given us choice, You remind me of 1 Corinthians 6:12, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.”

When we let our hair down and relax, sometimes we relax self-discipline more than we should.  Our choice of options changes from strictly an array of healthy choices to an array of healthy choices with a few unhealthy choices thrown into the mix.   Lord, when we exercise self-control in submission to Your Spirit, we partner with You to make choices that bless, heal and benefit.  When we make choices that are unhealthy, cause harm or loss, are we submitting to the will of the enemy?  No one in their right mind intentionally harms themselves.  Lord, keep us from insanity.  With our sanity intact, help us to make sane choices and shun insane temptations.  You remind me, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” - John 10:10.  Your Word further says, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31.

Lord, I lift my friend.  We thank You for the gift of choice.  They want nothing to do with partnering with the powers of darkness.  Would You please show them when their choices are playing into the enemy’s hand?  Quicken them before a decision is made so they can make a choice from the array of good and sane options that will improve health, nurture and heal relationships, bring peace, joy, wisdom and life in abundance.  Give them eyes that can see beyond the moment of instant gratification to see the end result - the days after the seed of their choice has been planted and when it is fully mature and reproducing on its own.  Lord, may what they plant bring a harvest of blessing and good fruit and not a garden packed tightly with noxious weeds and regret.  May they be glad tomorrow for what they have planted today.  Imbue them with strength to not be timid and succumb to the insanity that is temptation, but to embrace Your Spirit of power, love and self-discipline.  Father, keep them sane in a this crazy world.  In Jesus Name ❤️
