Are You Ready?
ARE YOU READY?
BY: Julie Souza Bradley Lilly
Hoarding toilet paper can never bring peace. No amount of food in our pantry, money in the bank or ammunition in the safe can fully protect us from harm. The vast majority of wealthy people when asked how much money they need to feel secure will say, “Just a little more.”
We forever chase the dangling carrot of peace, but it remains just out of reach. Peace by way of “things” is a mirage. Things can buy a measure of temporary comfort, but true peace cannot be attained by any amount of hard work, shrewd dealings or hoarding. True and lasting peace comes from God alone.
Most of us have heard about the return of the Lord. The message may be so familiar that, with delays in fulfillment, we have hardened to the message and reassigned it’s promise to the category of fairytale. Too old for “fairytales,” we shelve the hope, busy ourselves and live like those who have lost sight of eternity and hope.
Shaking is a blessing if it awakens us to saving truth. With life shaking around us, I am reminded:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
John 14:1-3 NIV
Beloved, do you need peace?
Peace comes from a saving relationship with Christ Jesus. Christ will return.
Will you be ready when He comes?
Father, shake us from our slumber. Lift the scales from our eyes. Be with us in the storm. Hide us in the cleft of the Rock and cover us with peace. May we be found faithful at Your return. We dust off our faith and lift our eyes. Come, Lord Jesus! In Jesus’ Name ❤️
