The Way Maker

THE WAY MAKER

By:  Julie Souza Bradley Lilly

“The LORD is near to those who are discouraged; he saves those who have lost all hope.” - Psalm 34:18 GNB

Sometimes we come to a dead end —we travel down a long, hot canyon just to realize that the only exit is behind us.

It’s been a difficult season, hasn’t it?  The road has been long and rough, sapping our strength.  And the scorching heat of circumstance has left our throats dry and flesh burnt.

But take heart!  Things are not beyond hope.  The good news is we serve a “Way Maker” — the God who turns water into wine, mourning into joy, anxiety into peace and death into life. He can multiply our supply, forge a way through a blind canyon, cause mountains to melt, or reach down with His mighty right arm to snatch us from harm.

You may feel like a tiny speck in a vast expanse, but He sees you, Beloved.  He hears you.  In this place of desperation, don’t look down.  Look up.  Your help comes from the Lord.

Father, meet us in our desolation.  You understand, and have carried our suffering of loss, rejection, and betrayal.  You have heard our cries for help, and are moved with compassion.  You have captured our tears in Your bottle.

Let us hear Your voice of comfort:

“Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs forth now. Don't you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”  - Isaiah 43:19 WEB

Holy Spirit, come and abide with us.  Touch us in our affliction.  Hand of God, reach down with rescue.  Make a way in our desert, where one has never existed before.

Refresh us in Your presence, be close and calm our anxious hearts.  May the authority of Your hands bring us reassurance and the gentleness of Your touch speak of Your love.

Way Maker, we speak to the Rock.  Break forth with living water.  Replace our hushed, dry whispers with shouts of joy, because You made a way in the wilderness and brought a river in the desert!  In Jesus’ Name ❤️
