Invisible Treasures

Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7

Father, most of us have probably read these verses a thousand times.  This passage has become so familiar that there is a temptation to discount the value of its truth and wisdom.  With familiarity we tend overlook it as we would old wallpaper that we have seen so many times that we no longer “see” it.

Lord, I lift my friends.  Their hearts are in distress.  So many burdens, concerns and problems steal their peace.  Their joy has become submerged and finally has drowned in their anxieties.  Their reserve of hope has been tapped dry and they feel the ache of loneliness in a room of thousands, all of whom have eyes that look but do not see, distracted by the images of fear and dread playing in their minds.  Lord, they need You.  We come back to the wisdom of Your Word.  Give them an awareness of the good in what feels primarily bad.  Divinely inspire them to exercise their muscles of thanksgiving against the resistance of their struggles.  In the exercise, may they find themselves strengthened, their hope renewed, their faith restored, reserve refilled and their minds renewed by the washing of the water of Your Word.  Give them fresh eyes with which to see and take hold of ancient truths that they would not just know the words on the page, but come to truly know the Word played out in their lives, as they rediscover its forgotten treasure.  Your Word is alive! (Heb 4:12).  I pray that it lives and breathes within them.  Inspire them to offer their petitions, but to also walk in submission to Your Spirit with a heart of Thanksgiving, that Your Spirit and thanksgiving may serve as their constant companions and protection against the anxieties of this world.  Revive them this morning, Lord.  Holy Spirit, breathe life and peace into their body, soul and spirit.  In Jesus Name ❤️
