It’s Raining!

Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!

“You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the LORD, have created it.” - Isaiah 45:8

Lord, it’s still very early.  The first blush of morning is still hours away.  I can hear the gentle tap of rain on the window and it’s sound brings with it peace.  Fires have devastated so much.  The rain is truly a shower of blessing.  Lord, devastation affects all of our lives, whether it is the literal burning of all we own, a death, the figurative burning of a relational bridge or devastation to bodies, hopes or dreams.

Lord, I lift my friend this morning.  We bring the landscape of their life before You.  Some places show evidence of burn scars from long ago.  Others smolder, while there still may be areas in full blaze.  Father, we ask for an end to their drought and devastation.  We ask for the windows of Heaven to be opened.  Bring a shower of refreshing and a fresh wind of blessing to sweep across their life.  With the rain, I ask that You would extinguish flames of hatred and works of darkness, and that the wind of Your Spirit would blow out every ember of gossip, hurtful words and bitterness.  I ask that the scorched seeds laying dormant within them would drink deeply.  Wake the sleeping seeds of their hopes and dreams from their slumber.  Cause them to sprout and rise to life from their bed of ashes.  Resurrect relationships assumed dead or beyond repair, to live once again in health and wholeness.  May grace and forgiveness saturate hard soil, giving way to softness and fertility.  For the dark skies of gloom and stinging air of grief, Holy Spirit come and dispel the darkness.  Bring comfort and consolation.  Silence the howl of the fire’s whipping winds, replacing them with gentle whispers and the sweet songs of birds.

Thank You for the hope that saturates the five little words sprinkled across Your Word, “And it came to pass.”  Even now, let them hear the first raindrops tapping on their window, a herald of blessing and answer to prayer.  Lord, thank You for the rain.  In Jesus Name ❤️
