The Final Piece of the Puzzle

Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” - John 14:1-4

Father, I lift my friend before You.  We look toward the new year.  It waits expectantly, like a bride, just outside the chapel doors of tomorrow morning.  Looking back over our shoulders we can see Your beautiful fingerprints shaping so much of this past year.  At the same time, there are photographs in our minds - images that bring sadness and grief.  Father, in obedience to Your Word, we thank You both in and for, the good and what we perceive as bad, trusting that what the enemy intended for evil, You will work it all for our good.  Forgive us when we mistakenly assume that what we can see is all there is.  Your plans will not be thwarted.  Every jot and tittle of every single promise will be fulfilled in their entirety in Your glorious, impeccable timing.

Life on this little, blue planet can be like a jigsaw puzzle.  We see pieces and believe we know where they fit.  Other pieces we look at and haven’t a clue where they might possibly fit.  We might even question if the piece belongs to our puzzle at all.  On “that day”, when the sky and the heavens recede and roll up like a scroll and the mountains and islands are moved from their places (Rev 6:14), we will see the last piece of the puzzle breathtakingly snapped into place and the fullness of the beauty and enormity of Your plan revealed.  We will come to see You face to face, our eternal Faithful One.  We will see not one piece missing or left on the table.  Eternity will unroll before us and be spent in awe and wonder at what You created, accomplished and sacrificed, and the hearts of our heavenly bodies will be full in joyful expectation of what is yet to come - Your endlessly faceted beauty, creativity, love and holiness unfolding.  Each revelation more beautiful than the last.  We will see why the angels around Your throne continually declare Your holiness.

Father, we thank You that what we see is not all there is.  There is so much more You have in store.  A portion of what You allow in Your kindness is the brokenness of our world.  While it causes us to grieve, it also allows us to realign our displaced affections and loosen our grasp on the temporary to take hold of the eternal.  This earth is not our home.  Our home is with You, beyond the veil and without separation.

Father, we thank You for the year behind us.  We praise You for the year before us.  As we step across the threshold, may the words on our lips and the mission and passion in our hearts, be one and the same, “To God be the glory.”  In Jesus Name ❤️
