Eye Wall of The Storm

Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” - Psalm 56:3 NIV

Lord, I have always interpreted this verse to say that when we are afraid, You are faithful and we can trust You.  While that is certainly truth, today I see it through a different light.  When life is going smoothly, we tend to put our trust in things, circumstances and even ourselves.  The embarrassing truth exposed in this verse is that it often isn’t until we are afraid that we put our trust in You.

Father, Your Word encourages us to put our trust in You, and we do to a certain extent.  When we are in dire need, our desperation causes us to cling to You, like clawing beggars, for our needs.  We offer pleading, bargaining and manipulative prayers.  Then once we see our desired answer on the horizon, we release our grasp on You to take hold of the answer and place our hope and trust in it.  We trust the answer to meet our needs, heal the wound and restore our hope.  Then we arrogantly dismiss You to go back to address other pressing matters as if to say, “Thank You, Lord.  You can go now.  l’ve got this.”

Your Word says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5&6 NIV.  “Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.” - Proverbs 28:26.

Father, I lift my friend before You.  We bring their aching heart and anxious soul.  They lift their requests and place their trust squarely in You.  It is in relationship that a child learns to fully trust a parent.  You don’t call Your child to be a frightened, grasping beggar, but to live as one of the sons and daughters of the King and a joint heir with Christ.  Fortify their trust that the same goodness and love that prompted their adoption, will continue to provide faithfully for their needs.

When the answer comes, Father, quicken them to the inherent danger of releasing their grasp on You.  May they not succumb to the tempting voice of the enemy that seeks to lure them away from You to instead cling to the fleeting vapor of the answer.  Caution them to the peril - the unexpected eye wall within the cloud with a silver lining - the temptation to cling to the answer to save them instead of trusting the Savior Himself, and then, being unsheltered, exposing themself to the most damaging winds of the storm.  May they be wise and judiciously invest their trust in the sure foundation.  May they hide themself in the cleft of the Rock and be kept safe, sound and blessed.  In sunlight and clouds, in stillness and the eye wall of the storm, may their posture remain unchanged -  clinging to You and looking up.  In Jesus Name ❤️

Dear friend, have you loosened your grasp on the Father to instead put your trust in your bank account, job, spouse or the government to save you?   Trust invested anywhere but in Him is poorly placed.  Hold tightly to Him and be safe.  💡
