The Tips of Our Noses

“He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” - Matthew 5:45b NIV

Sometimes we can’t see beyond the tips of our noses.  While we may have a sense that something is approaching, so often we are taken by surprise and woefully unprepared for what happens.  Only the Father, who is not constrained by time and space (Is 57:15), can see it all and equip us for the challenges that lie ahead.  We need wisdom beyond our understanding, because apart from His help, our choices can lead to regret.  Lord, we don’t want that kind of day.

Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!  Lord, I lift my friend before You.  Send Your Holy Spirit to walk with them.  In both sunshine and rain, be their wise counselor and overshadowing umbrella.  Comfort them in disappointment, stress and pain.  Remind them of the truths of Your Word - those verses they have hidden in their heart for such a time as this.  Cause Your Word to rise up within them and preach to their spirit and soul (Ps 42:5) reviving their hope in You.  I pray that the recounting of the Word would bring peace to their anxiety and a healing balm massaged into their aching heart.

In their joys and triumphs, I ask that they would enjoy the moment, but not lose sight of the truth that every good and perfect gift comes from You (Jam 1:17).  While their effort in partnering with You may lead to their desired success, the underpinnings of their contribution are also gifts from You, because You have endowed them with gifts, talents and abilities to learn and grow.

Prepare them for what lies ahead, Father, that whether they encounter rain or sunshine, both would find them holding fast to You and covered.  Give them soundness of mind to remain at peace in their challenges and acutely aware of Your goodness as the source of every blessing.

Only You know what today will bring, Lord.  Your eyes see eternity, while ours merely the tips of our noses.  Help them to trust in Your omniscience and goodness, that they will hold on to You and trust You, no matter what comes their way.  In Jesus Name ❤️

Dear friend, are you frustrated that while making good choices you are still struggling?  The Lord allows both sunshine and rain.  It is hard to comprehend, but when we love Him and are called according to His purposes, both can be used for our longterm good (Rom 8:28).  With the exception of God, few things in life remain unchanged.  Hold tightly to Him.  He can bring sunshine after the rain.  💡
