Baby Steps

BABY STEPS

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin,“ - Zechariah 4:10a NLT

Father, when starting out in a long journey, it is tempting to become discouraged by the sheer magnitude of what lies before us.  We look at our small beginnings, our tiny, feeble attempts to move in the right direction and often fall prey to the lie that to accomplish the task is impossible.  Whether starting a new diet, a course of study, exercise, fighting an addiction or just cleaning out a closet, it can generally be said that things worth pursuing come at a cost.  Rarely in life do we simply happen upon treasure.

Father, I lift up my dear friend.  Today as they stand on the threshold of a new day, I ask for fresh courage.  I ask that in Your mercy You would replace the memories of struggle and pain from yesterday with a blessed reminder of why they started out on this journey to begin with.  As the brilliant hues of sunrise bring an over-arching sense of promise to morning, give them fresh eyes with which to perceive their future and hope sparklingly on the horizon.  May this love letter of light penetrate into their very core, bringing illumination to forgotten dreams and fresh courage to fan the flames of their spirit.  Give them ears to hear Your voice of encouragement calling them to a higher place (Phil 3:14) — a place of rich reward reserved for those who are willing to accept the invitation to pursue You and the treasures of Your kingdom (Heb 11:6).  I pray that the small beginning of this day will be supplemented by the work of Your Spirit, that every step they take will be multiplied and move them forward by many steps.

This evening as they rest their head on their pillow and recount the day, I pray that any discouragement they felt this morning will have melted away and been replaced by wonder at what was accomplished in partnership with You.  May their willingness to pursue Your will in the face of adversity and exhaustion be rewarded with a sense of Your pleasure and peaceful satisfaction.  Then, may this joy cause them to call out to other travelers coming up behind them, cheering them on in their struggle to keep pressing on toward the goal.  Give them courage, tenacity, focus and strength, dear Father.  And may today’s small beginning lead to an unexpectedly rich reward at the end of the day (James 1:12).  In Jesus Name ❤️

Dear friend, are you feeling intimidated by the task at hand?  Does the anticipated effort cause you to want to stop before even starting?  The Father’s help is there for the asking.  He will get you where you need to be at His appointed time.  The only sure way to fail is to give up (Gal 6:9).  Just don’t give up!  Keep going! 💡

If you have been encouraged or challenged, please repost and further His kingdom!
