Divine Interruptions
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” - 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

I was thinking this morning about how many times Jesus was criticized and rejected and the multiple detours and interruptions along His way. His life was riddled with discouragements, distractions and delays. Through it all, He maintained His focus and kept going, even to the point of death and resurrection, because He was on a mission from His Father.
Lord, we see that distractions and interruptions served as the first acts for dramatic displays of Your power. Without them, so many of the miracles that we see in the Bible would disappear from its pages. The story of the healing of Jairus’ daughter, the woman healed of the issue of blood and the resurrection of Lazarus, for example, all came as a result of interruptions. Frustrations and postponements are not only taken into account, but intentionally woven into the fabric of Your purpose and perfect timing for our lives. Many times an irritating delay is actually a gift and a gateway for a miracle, when an obstacle on the path toward good requires we divert our course toward what is best.
Father, I lift up my dear friend who is reading this. With their next interruption, remind them to keep their eyes open. Bless them with the mind of Christ, so that frustration does not prevent them from fully enjoying every second of your wondrous display of power. Help them to reject self pity and anger, that they would receive the full measure of their reward. We thank you for the hope found in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.” - Galatians 6:9. Thank You, Father, for working in both the fast-paced and in what appears to be a standstill, and for using annoyances to usher in spectacular blessing for Your glory. In Jesus Name ❤️
Dear friend, are you facing a disappointment, delay or detour? The Lord, in His goodness, allows these to re-route us when we get off track, provide for dovetailing of His plan and to prevent us from settling for good when He wants to offer us His best. He even uses them to protect us from danger. Why not ask Him to give you new eyes with which to see your circumstances? Sometimes a delay can save your life. 💡
