A City On A Hill
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” – Matthew 5:14-15
Lord, in our good times and bad times, Your love for us is eternally the same. You are patient, compassionate and tenderhearted toward us. You discipline us, because Your love for us is far too great to leave us crippled and languishing in our sin.
Father, send the searchlight of Your Spirit to illuminate the darkness that lingers in our hearts. Bless us with a hunger for Your ways that we will come to detest the ways of the enemy and loathe the very scent of death He bears.
Expose the lies we have accepted as gospel and built into the pillar and foundation of our truth (1 Tim 3:15). Tear out every deception and false teaching. Brick by brick, rebuild us for your glory. Fill the newly emptied spaces with Your presence, so we do not turn to things of the flesh to fill an aching void. Unfold the light of Your Word that gives understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130), that like a road map it will lead us safely home.
As mortar binds together the stones in a wall, Son of God, be the mortar that holds us together (Col 1:17). Then, set us as a city on a hill – a faithful beacon of hope to the lost. And fan the flames of Your fire within us, that our every word and deed will shine Your light into the darkness. In Jesus Name ❤️
Dear friend, often times we become disillusioned with God, because we hang our hats on scripture that has been taken out of context. God will always be faithful to fulfill His promises, but only as long as the scripture we are quoting is kept in context. Some promises are made to an individual for their circumstance alone, while others are promises for all of His children. If you are disappointed with God for not keeping a promise, it would be wise to go back and read a chapter or two on either side of the scripture to make sure you are understanding exactly what promise is being made and to whom. Ask the Father to remove any errant beliefs you may have and to rebuild your foundation on the solid Word of God, taken in context. 💡
