A Prayer For Little Lambs
A PRAYER FOR LITTLE LAMBS
“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.” - Psalm 63:3-8.
It is still very early. The darkness is all around and even the crickets lie quiet. It is often when the busyness stops and the cacophony is silenced that we hear the Lord the best. Many of us greet this morning with concerns, fears or confusion. Distraction causes us to lose sight of our shepherd, and we become confused and frightened. Not knowing which way to turn, we lose our way. We all like sheep have gone astray (Is 53:6). It is then that our anxious bleats meet the attentive ears of the One whose rod and staff comfort us.
So, we come to You, Lord. You are our Good Shepherd. You lay down Your life for Your sheep. Father, together with my friend reading this, we come before You in the name of Jesus. We come seeking Your wisdom. There are choices to make and courses to set.
When all things appear equal and we don’t know which path to choose, we turn to You for guidance. The voices surrounding us may say to go this way or that, but there is One voice we long to hear above all others. We long to hear Your voice. Father, we remind ourselves that it says in Your Word,
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6
We praise You that we are not sheep without a Shepherd. We love You, because in Your incomprehensible mercy, You sacrificially loved us first (1 John 4:19). Lead Your little lambs on the good path of righteousness.
When lions roar, help us to run to You and be safe (Ps 34:10). Feed is by Your hand (Ps 95:7) and make us lie down in green pastures. Refresh us beside still waters (Ps 23). Give us rest from our weariness and satisfy our thirst with Your living water (John 4:14).
With gentleness minister to our wounds. Reassure us with Your touch. Calm our quivering hearts with balm of Your voice.
The path ahead of us is well worn, for You have come this way many times before. You know every curve, every rock and every tree, where to step and when to rest. Your familiarity with the path brings us peace.
Guide Your little lambs. Close gates that lead astray; open those that lead us home. And lead us in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:24). In Jesus Name ❤️
Beloved, are you feeling lost or confused? Sometimes distraction draws our attention away from the Lord and we lose sight of Him. When we realize we can no longer see Him, fear comes upon us as a heavy mist, making us feel alone in our lostness. In our blindness, the strange and frightening sounds around us are magnified, paralyzing us where we stand. Call out to the Lord! You may not be able to see or hear Him, but even before you call, He sees you, hears you and will answer. 💡
