RESCUING LOVE

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” - Psalm 34:17-19

We all go through times of frustration, grief and discouragement.  Even Jesus, when in the garden, was in such extreme anguish that His sweat was like great drops of blood.  The Lord not unfamiliar with our agony and sorrow. He understands the grief of ultimate betrayal, humiliation and abandonment.  Jesus wrestled with disappointment, discouragement and loss, exactly as we do.

In this fallen world, it is part and parcel of being human to bear the weight of emotion—both good and bad.  The Lord knows it all.  He has deep compassion upon us in our pain, anxiety and fear.  He sees our tears and sleepless nights, broken hearts and longings for an answer.

Father, thank You for remembering the beautiful fragility of how we are made. Thank You for Your attentive, watchful eye that looks upon us with mercy and great affection.  Holy Spirit overshadow us.  In our desperation, give us ears to hear Your approaching voice of rescue.

We bring our burdens, brokenness and fear, asking for Your miraculous intervention.  We submit our sickness to the healing stripes of Jesus.  We turn our eyes to You and ask for a gift of faith to believe, trust and obey You, in a season we do not understand.  Speak peace and stillness to our storm.  Blow on the embers of our hope.

We praise You for Your kindness and the faithfulness of Your rescuing love—for being a magnificent Father to the fatherless and shelter in the storm.  Today as we seek You, may we find You.  Lord, we seek You with all of our hearts.  In Jesus’ Name ❤️

Paul’s Handkerchief Prayer

Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father! “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:6 Lord, we don’t have to be the only one in a room to feel alone.  We can be in a coliseum full of people and still feel lonely.  We feel alone in our skin.  You encourage us to not forsake meeting together as a church (Hebrews 10:25), but it is the internal companionship that keeps us from feeling loneliness in that packed coliseum. Good morning, my friend!  Good morning, Father!   “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that   I would see the goodness of the Lord in  the land of the living.   Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage,   And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” - Psalm 27:13-14 Father, we thank You that with You all things are possible.  All around us there are financial troubles, poverty, disease, depression, anxiety, divorces, confusion, disappointment, illness, loss, pain and grief.  The list goes on and on.  People are suffering, Father, and are clinging to the last vestiges of hope.   Lord, I lift up my friend.  You know precisely what weighs on their mind today, and which troubling thoughts strike fear in their heart.  Long seasons of struggle bring with them weariness and discouragement.  I cry out to You on their behalf, Lord.  You are able.  We ask for miracles.  Nothing is too difficult for You.  We ask that You take what the enemy intended for evil
