Spiritual Timidity

SPIRITUAL TIMIDITY

By:  Julie Souza Bradley Lilly

Don’t ask me how I know this, but the enemy has us snookered.  He has the vast majority of us anxious and trembling in our boots.  If we could, we would hide beneath spiritual blankets until morning light and this nightmare is over.

It’s smoke and mirrors, beloved. Don’t get me wrong.  The enemy is a formidable opponent.  He has power.  He is “prince of the power of the air,” “ruler of demons,” “ruler of the world” and the “god of this age.”  But he is NO MATCH for our God.  Satan’s minions may observe our actions and weaknesses, but we have been grossly underestimated.  When we submit to God, His power within us is unstoppable.

“The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” – 1 John‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our opponent entices and attempts to frighten and discourage us.  He strives to dupe us into disobedience and fear.  Without these measures—when we stay the course, following God’s plan—he goes down hard in defeat. His only hope is to take as many casualties as possible with him on his way to the pit.

Fight the enemy, not with your wits, but with the Word of God.  Hide it in your heart.   In the hands of a submitted child of God, it is a powerful weapon.  Resisting and standing firm in the Word will send the enemy fleeing.

Submit to God.  Fill your spirit with the Word.  Put on the armor and DO NOT BE AFRAID.  Our God goes before us.  He surrounds us on all sides.  Every plan of the enemy is used to make us stronger.  Stand firm to the end, and see the salvation of the Lord and a glorious inheritance.

Father, remind us of who You are, whose we are and the power, authority and tools we have been given.  We cast off timidity to put on Your armor, robes of righteousness and worship.  Go before us.  Fill us.  And when the devil sees us coming, may he be afraid!  In Jesus’ Name ❤️
