Step Forward, Look Back & Trust Again

STEP FORWARD, LOOK BACK & TRUST AGAIN

By:  Julie Souza Bradley Lilly

“Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” – Psalms‬ ‭5:2-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Sometimes prayers are answered suddenly, while other times the answer can only be seen by looking back and discovering that change happened slowly over time.  While we love split-second answers, it can be so comforting to look back and see, that in times of waiting —even though we were unaware — God’s hand was working through people and circumstances for our blessing.

Our loving, meticulous Father watches us with tender affection, anticipating our every need.  His heart is soft toward us. And He whispers counsel and gentle comfort, leading us in paths toward blessing and away from harm.

There is no need to be afraid.

He is WITH us.  (Deut 31:6)

He is FOR us.  (Rom 8:31)

He will HELP us. (Is 41:10)

Beloved, we all can feel invisible or insignificant sometimes.  But the Father sees you.  His ears are tuned to hear Your cry.  He answers even before you call (Is 65:24).  He has not forgotten you.  You are the apple of His eye.  His work may be hidden, but even now the Father is working things for your eternal good.

Life may seem chaotic and frightening, but a day will come when you will be able to look back at this season and see His love and faithfulness.  You will discover more blessings than you realized, and that each one is covered with the fingerprints of God.

Father, thank You for remembering us.  Help us to also remember You.  May we step forward in faith as You move, but also look back, every now and then, so we can be grateful for Your answers, appreciate the magnitude of our blessings and thank You for them. And in seeing the extravagance of Your love, may our faith be strengthened to step forward, look back and trust You again.  In Jesus’ Name❤️
