What Really Matters
WHAT REALLY MATTERS
By: Julie Souza Bradley Lilly
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”
– Psalms 19:1-2 NIV
It makes me feel so tiny to consider that we are wrapped in such an expansive blanket of stars. The enormity of space stretches beyond the bounds of my limited imagination. I am but a tiny speck—a wisp of vapor—a microscopic, fleeting particle of dust. It's comforting to know, however, that in the midst of such vast emptiness, that I am never truly alone. I know my Father. More importantly, He knows me. He remembers me. He remembers you, too. He is never farther away than our very breath.
He has numbered the hairs of our heads and painted every freckle on our cheeks. He knows our favorite color, what makes us laugh and what brings a tear. He knows it all—every strength and every flaw. Yet He still loves us and calls us His own. He declares that we are significant, not because of anything that we have done, but simply because He loves us. That very fact means that we matter.
We may be tiny specks, but we matter to the Creator of the Universe. That's pretty amazing. Life may take its twists and turns, but in the end, when we know Him, we can have full confidence in where we are going to end up. We won’t be forgotten or left behind. And when we get there, we will see that it was worth it all.
Father, life can have its struggles, and sometimes we feel small and insignificant. What a wonder, that in the vastness of space, You are mindful of us. Even now You hold us. We are kept safe as the apple of Your eye. When we lose sight of that, remind us that You love us and we matter to You. Because in the end, mattering to You is all that really matters. In Jesus’ Name ❤️
