Unintentional Worship

UNINTENTIONAL WORSHIP

By:  Julie Souza Bradley Lilly

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” – Psalms‬ ‭9:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This morning I was praying and thanking God for some wonderful things I see Him doing, and a verse came to mind.

“Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.” – Psalm 22:3 NIV

He reminded me that when we recount His wonderful deeds, He draws near and is enthroned upon our praise.  Our praise acknowledges Him as our King.  And when He rules in our hearts, His authority brings peace and divine blessing to the kingdom of our lives.  Blessing comes as a result of recounting His marvelous works.

Suddenly a song came to mind. Are you old enough to remember the song, “Gotta Serve Somebody” by Bob Dylan? Check out this line from the chorus:

*”Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord                                                                                         But you're gonna have to serve somebody.”

Not only are we going to have to serve somebody, but we are going to have to WORSHIP somebody. Just as we enthrone God when we recount His wonderful deeds, we enthrone the enemy when we recount his hellish deeds.

Every time we indulge the desire grumble and complain about our circumstances, poor health, the actions of others or our leaders, we recount the enemy’s killing, stealing and destroying deeds. And the enemy receives our grumbling as worship!  No wonder God hates it when we grumble!  Complaining gives honor and glory to the enemy!  And just as the Lord draws near and uses his power to bless as we worship, the enemy draws near and uses his power to torment when we grumble.

Are you a grumbler, Beloved?  Nothing good can EVER come from it.  For your sake and that of the Kingdom of God, I implore you to stop!  Don’t accept Satan’s invitation to worship him and invite Hell into your world!

Father, open our eyes to the power of our words and the destruction we invite into our lives to grumble and recount the enemy’s works of darkness.  By the power of the shed Blood of Jesus we curse the powers of darkness.  We repent of and renounce a spirit of grumbling, complaining and ungratefulness.

Lord, You alone are to be praised.  Make us wise.  Give us awareness, discernment and firm reins on our tongues.  And may our worship be reserved EXCLUSIVELY for You.  In Jesus’ Name ❤️
